I recently had this same thing in both my home (24g) and office (10g) tanks. Both tanks are less than 1 year old. At home I fought the slime by removing visible patches with a turkey baster and doing frequent water changes. At the office I basically did nothing. I didn't even do water changes as I o...

Pregnant Peppermint Shrimp

I noticed I have a pregnant peppermint shrimp. I don't have another tank to try any kind of a hatching setup.

Should I be worried about the baby shrimp fouling my tank as it is only a 24g? I figured I would just let nature run it's course but wanted to ask first just in case.

Thanks,

Martin

I like the canopy idea. I may do that in some form or fashion. One of my 50/50s went out so I replaced it with a cheapo GE 6,500k bulb for the time being. Here is what the tank looks like now with the 20w 50/50 bulb on the left and a 13w 6,500k bulb on the right. For comparison the pumps should be t...

It is a tank I have in my office. It has zoos, mushrooms, GSP, button polyps in it currently. I might want something like a frogspawn as the centerpiece coral. The tank will also have 1 or 2 fish, most likely small gobies. It is mostly just a fun tank that I put together with some non-reefing cowork...

10 gallon Lighting

Is anyone selling lighting for a 10 gallon? I'm looking for something like the Coralife 96w quad fixture. I would like to stay on the cheap side too, maybe 50ish bucks. I tried to use the setup shown below and it just isn't working out. I've blown two of the bulbs in two weeks and the output (when w...

Maybe you could post on the FL Panhandle section of Reefcentral and try and pick up some at their upcoming meeting.

I'll be there with the dessert and I can also bring cups. On the coral side I'm bringing 2 kinds of zoanthids and a couple small green mushroom frags. I'll try and post pics tonight.

Unfortunately my wife has to work so she will not be coming.

My name is Martin and I have only recently given in to this addiction called salt water reef keeping. I have always wanted to keep a salt water tank and the final straw was when my wife and I went SCUBA diving for the first time. I started with a 24g Aquapod with 64w of PC lighting. It is pretty muc...

I stumbled upon a video by Eric Borneman where he illustrates the methods to frag SPS, LPS, mushrooms, polyps, and softies. Not only did it easy my apprehension about the fragging process but it also gave me better understanding of transport. The video is an hour long but it is awesome! http://www.z...

Thats sounds good. I don't have too much to bring but I do want to bring a 4-polyp zoo frag and a couple polyp mushroom frag just for the practice/experience of doing it.

Thanks!

Frag Swap Q's

I've never been to a frag swap.

How do I bring corals I want to give away? In particular zoo's and mushrooms.

How do I prepare to accept frags from others?

Is it as simple as a cooler with some ice or do I need buckets with airstones/battery powered pumps, etc.

Thanks!

To me a fix for the "party" problem would be to essentially have two events per meeting. First you have your meeting at a members house or LFS. Then after the meeting those that wanted could either meet at a bar or whatever for the "party" part. As far as not knowing people, meet...
