I would not keep an octopus in anything under 55g (and that may be too small).
I have kept several throughout the years. They are short lived...and will be even more short lived in a smaller tank.

Joe man....granted this response is a month late we all know what its like to be without power with our tanks. Thank god Andy was able to help me out with bubblers. Breeding Damsels
I have 2 females swollen with eggs that havent layed yet. Out of my 9 damsels 2 are males. I hope I can keep the babies alive. However, with all the equipment and protein skimming I do not think the plankton will stay in the tank long enough for the fry to eat regularly.
