Mine comes out from one side. i never thought of using pvc! i was just gonna glue some polyps to the tube. But then again never thought about em getting sucked in. Have you tried this? How far should you extend the pvc to make sure the polyps didn't get sucked in? Sounds like a good idea to me, than...

The main thing i dislike is how far down the intake tube hangs but i guess i could always cut it. i'd like to have that space for another big rock or something. As with a sump, i'm definitely going with one on any other tanks i try in the future. Just don't see the point of trying to use one w/the 2...

Air bubbles cont.

Then on the outflow into the tank i attached another piece to angle down into the tank. i used fiberglass and sanded smooth, h...

buying a tank from the paper

Is it too risky to buy a used tank? i was looking in the recent Shopper and saw some local deals on a few tanks w/stand and hoods. Was just wondering if anyone has ever bought one like this from a complete stranger and if it was a good/bad experience. i'm looking to try my luck with something betwee...

I've always heard they'll just go to the back of your tank and you'll never see them anyways. Plus they only live about 6 months in a tank. But then again i'm a newbie  so don't take my word on it !!

LOL... that's a good one about B&B. I keep a good eye on my calc already. Like to keep it just over 450. But if they do grow really fast i might just wait for a bigger setup. Thanks alot you guys.

To clam or not to clam.....

OK first off i think clams are awesome and would really love to have some in my tank. i run 2 65w PC 50/50 act on my 29gl. i've always been told that you need atleast MH for these. On my last visit to Progressive Rich was telling me that i could handle some species of clams but probably not the T. M...

i'm not big on B&B, they always seem to have dead fish in their tanks and that filthy scum that you said. Also i've been there before when they were pulling dead birds out of their RO water tank. Mainly why i stopped getting my water from there and picked up my own filter. is Progressive the onl...

Just wanna say thanks to everyone for the imput. Yeah i messed up saying 270, it's a 280 w/spraybar. You've all given some great ideas, i think i'll try to tinker w/a little of each. I don't know about using a canister w/an overflow to make a closed loop. Don't really know much about it so i think i...

Sorry don't have a camera to give pics but it's a HOB power filter: Emperor 280, i took off the bio-wheel because i was told that it can become a nitrate factory. i added it to help w/clearer water since you can run filter inserts in it. i also run a HOB protein skimmer and 2 maxijet 900's. Do you t...
