phytoplankton

Not to sound like a total idiot but, why would someone grow phytoplankton? I promise i'm not being a smart a$$, I really don't know. There are so many things for me to learn in this hobby. I like asking questions when there is something I've now been involved with.

Thanks,

Xenia

Its funny. When I added the xenia to the tank, it took off like crazy. Spreading everywhere. Two small pieces turned into about 5 in just a matter of weeks. The funny thing is that its not all dying, just some of it. Now maybe its just dying a little at a time but you would think if something was wr...

Xenia Dying

For the past couple of days my xenia was doing very well then all of a sudden it wilted over and looks like its dying. All my numbers look good. Just did a water change a week ago. Someone told me that xenia loves iodine. I added some to the tank but the xenia is still not looking any better. What s...

Arrow Crab

Well, I caught the arrow crab picking away at my flowerpot coral this morning before the lights came on. Took me all day but I caught him. He is now living in his new home under the tank.

Strongest preditor...Coral Bandit or Arrow Crab

I've been losing a few small fish lately. They are nowhere to be found in the tank. I have a coral bandit shrimp and an arrow crab. Which one would more likely be chomping on my fish? So far I've lost..... 2 Anthius 1 Yellow watchman 1 Elegant Wrass 1 Red Scooter Blenny 1 Starry Blenny I added the s...

Dendrophyllia - or Sun Coral

Picked up a piece of Sun Coral the other day. Still has not opened up even though I've been spot feeding it often. Been doing a little research and found "Dendrophyllia". It seems to look very similar in color and style but maybe it doesn't need spot feeding twice daily. Maybe there is ano...

sump

I recently removed my megaflow sump and replaced it with a 55 long. This is a model 4 and has two small cracks in the very top. The cracks could be fixed but should not effect the way the sump operates. The price is $0.00. or trade for frag. Just hate to trash the thing. Let me know if your interest...

Dxtr, That bright red colt is still catching my eye. I would love to get a frag. But don't want to take away from anyone else at the meeting. I'm still planning on buying 1 piece of coral and 2-3 frags to give away as door prizes at the meeting. Any suggestions? (Elegance....Nope...unless someone's ...

Drunk Joke

A woman was shopping at her local supermarket where she selected a half-gallon of 2% milk, a carton of eggs, a quart of orange juice, a head of romaine lettuce, a 2 lb. can of coffee, and a 1 lb. package of bacon. As she was unloading her items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing beh...

Sada,

Is the normal tank temp 74? I keep my chiller set on 78-79. Thats the thing about this hobby. What works for me might not be the best setup for you. Being new to this hobby also...I guess my tank temp is not too high. I was running about 83-84 before I added the chiller.

I don't want to sound like a dork but It would be cool for everyone to have nametags at the meeting. Just the little peel and stick kind. We could put our real name and MBRK name. I know I'm the worlds worst at remembering names. Just a thought...
