If I worked right down the road, I'd be there all the time too. My problem is that there are too many long roads between here and there. They do look nice and you're right about $10 frags.

Unfortunately that is exactly what happens in the case of most damsels when they get too big. You might talk to Chris Kadletz at the Gulfarium in FWB. He seems to be the local repository for unwanted fish. Try KADLETZ on the Florida Panhandle Reefkeepers forum at Reef Central. Sorry your guy just go...

You don't specify the type of bulbs (T5, PC,etc) that you are using or the type(s) of corals in your tank. If they are doing better on top, I can make a general assumption that they want more light. MH lighting usually covers a 2'x2' area. I would say that you would need a pair of 70w MH to cover th...

That would mean that he would need 600-800 for his 225. Wow, that's a lot of crabs! I think I'd reduce nutrients and add a nice sized rabbitfish ( Foxface Lo or Scribbled Rabbitfish) and possibly a Kole tang.

I had a similar problem for almost 8 months. All I can add is make sure that you're using DI water for make up and top off, Rinse any commercially prepared frozen food with DI, don't overfeed, try Phosban or other phosphate remover, consider a fuge and harvesting macro algae. All pretty much the sam...

Mike, if you really want to put those 400w MH to good use I've got a 110 gallon XT (31" tall) that I could sell you. Only problem is that you'd probably have to stretch your arms about 6" to reach the bottom.

You may want to consider doing the coast to coast with two pieces of glass and use a piece if gutter guard as a strainer. I'm not sure how well aquarium sealant would bond to acrylic. Just a thought.

There are two types of peppermint shrimp. If you get the correct one, your aiptasia problem will be a thing of the past. These are the ones you want: http://www.marinedepotlive.com/peppermint-shrimp---lysmata-wurdemanni--inverts--shrimp.html Five completely cleaned out my moderately infested tank wi...

I'll have to see if I can dig you up a referance. I believe it was some research Sanjay was doing. It definately indicated that PAR was nearly equivelent to a good 250w 20K MH. You're not going to beat my 2 250w 14K Hamiltons with 8 - 54w T5's at 24" deep no matter how much you overdrive them. ...

I've got to agree with you on the shimmer of MH. I went back to them from T5s. If you do go T5s go with the best bulbs and individual reflectors you can buy. I used to have a 4 -54w fixtrue and happily sold it. Going back to MH was the best thing I could ever have done. Yes, you can get PAR that's a...
