Heh, I had put him in the sump and he managed to jump the bulkhead and get to my Peppermint shrimp, so that is 4 shrimp total he has devoured......I guess it could have been worse.

Sad Day In The New Tank...

I recently purchased a Hawk Fish, cool little fish, very pretty.

I get home yesterday, after being gone only and hour, to find the wiskers of my cleaner shrimp poking out of his mouth......my Fire shirmp was also nowhere to be found.

Hawkfish is currently in time out in the sump.

How long do you run your lights?

I thought I had gotten rid of that awful red cyanobacteria, but it just keeps coming back. After getting tired of looking at it, and knowing that the stuff grows quickly with the lights on I just cut the lights to the tank....for 2 days. I breifly turned them back on to see that there was no trace o...

Time to buy more snails...

Howdy all, Its getting time for me to snail up my tank. I want to buy some turbo grazers. I have a few places in mind to buy them from, but before I made my purchase I thought I would get some opinions first. So, where you buy your snails from? How many snails do you think a 29 Gallon tank needs? Wh...

Chemiclean Red Slime Remover.

Wait 24 hours.

20% water change and try to lightly vacuum the very top layer of sand in areas where you saw the Slime.

I had to repeat this process 3 times, but It did work for me. May not be the best method, but it worked.

Do I just dig out the existing sand and transplant it into the new tank?

Upgrading Tank

As some of you know I currently have a 30 Gallon tank with over 2 years of being established. The tank is pretty scratched up and I am thinking about replacing it and upgrading to a bigger tank. My concerns are for my current livestock. I dont want to loose them, but I am not sure how to approach st...

Found a solution and oddly enough it was one that I already knew about, had used in the past and was to dumb to remember. Chemiclean Red Slime Remover. Worked in a little over 24 hours with no visable side effects to anything else in my tank including corals, crabs, shrimp fish and more. It was very...

That is a good point, I HAVE noticed that it is not as visable/colorful first thing in the morning, but after about 3 hours of lighting then it is very visable and very red. Its just a 30 gallon tank with no sump. I do have a protien skimmer. I am in the process of replacing my biofilter with one th...

Well its red and seems to be getting more and more red, dark blood red. It is long enough to flow in the current. it seems to mainly be spreading in the sand in patches that get larger and larger. Ive never seen it before. Thats the best I can do, if a certain puppy had not of eaten my camera I coul...
