Amanda you could test the next day for nitrates. Do you have many "dead spots" in the tank with little water movement? if so this could cause nitrates to build up. Get a couple of cleaner clams too. they work wonderful in my opinion. I got mine while I still lived in P'cola from the lagoon...

I agree with snoop on the non use of mechanical filtration. I have a 120 gal. with 3" sand bed and about 200lbs LR. I have a skimmer but only use it for 3 or 4 days a month. I have WAY less problems since going to this method.

I would get as much LR as your budget will allow though.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of months ago, Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost ALOT of fish with no explanation. All levels were perfect. But everything is great once again. I would do a 25-30% water change for good measure though.

Thanks Scott! I thought they would be ok. I may try to take them on the plane with me since it is a navy flight and don't have to go throught the same check in process and I know they would be handled alot better by me.

I just have a quick question for you guys and girls. Can I collect some soft corals in the Key West area? I am going on a trip there with the Navy and was wondering if I could get some cool corals or fish there. Is there a web site that I can look up to see what is legal to get and what is not? Than...

they don't have to have a brackish tank do they? I have one in my 120 reef and it seems to be really happy. My sand bed has never been cleaner.

He is really active in the tank. But I haven't seen him cleaning the rocks yet. He loves to swim in the current of the power head! I got him for a steal too. The LFS was supposed to get me a clown tang but forgot so I got the tennenti for $30. I also just got a HUGE saddle anemone with a clarkii too...
