I've had one on a timer, that turns it on / off every 15 minutes for over a year, and never had a problem with it.

I think our big problem would be the dogs.. We have 3 water loving dogs who would spend all their time laying around in it.

Ditto What snoop said... stay with what works unless it does something you absolutely need. Its way more trouble that it is worth at this point. Stability issues, security patches, etc.. ugh, who has the time for it
