2 books

I have read the Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook-second edition by Goldstein and like this. There are chapters on corals, coral disease, fish and algaes as well as reef chemistry. I also bought the little coral book for $9.00 by Barrons that includes classification and care. Not many pictures but usefu...

Please, I would like some also. I live in West Mobile and will be there Sunday at a time you specify. I have a 65 gallon reef with mostly Zoas and brown Mushrooms.

Thanks James, I will keep it from other corals. I don't have anywhere to work with it until I rid my tank of a damsel.

Thanks Andrew,

Now the question is what do I do with it? I want corals more than I want this fish. I don't want the fish to topple the rockwork either.

My new favorite coral

Galaxia-got this from Prog Marine. It is always open and has long sweeper tentacles. Hope it does well. Do others have good luck with these?

Reef safe? Golden Damsel eating my Frogspawn

Well it is not really eating it, instead it bites of the green tips on the tentacles and spits these out. It is a territorial behavior. I moved the Frogspawn and hope it will recover. I need to rid my tank of this Damsel. It is far too agressive for corals. It attacks my Pikstik grabber whenever I h...

Is Winn Dixie drinking water good for reef tank?

I can mix my salts easily with these gallon jugs. They say purified by reverse osmosis. I am mixing 1/2 cup Instant Ocean Reef crystals with 1 gallon water. Please let me know if my salt mix is wrong. There is much to learn. Thanks

Thanks, I see them in other places now. They don't seem to be bothering the star polyps but I will take your advice. They don't look like Aiptasia because the tentacles are short and clubbed at the tips.

Temp says 81 on my Medusa temperature controller. Do these need to be calibrated or should I trust it? The high temp alarm is set for 83. I am ready now for some corals starting with frogspawn.

Tank is cooling down. Progressive Marine set me up with this. I had to find some new fittings to connect it but it is working fine. Temp is now 85 and hopefully it will keep dropping.

Andrew, I also talked to Rich and will see him this afternoon. It is the only pump driving my system. The water goes in the sump and then goes through the lifegard modules and then through a Tetra uv sterilizer before going back into the tank. I want to keep everything and just replace this pump. If...

Great, I just learned that I have a Grundfos Quiet One aquarium pump. This aquarium pump is no longer manufactured and a reply on another reef forum states that the pump uses aquarium water to cool itself. Andrew, if you read this I will be calling to find a replacement for this. New connectors may ...

Thanks James, I think I will have to replace the pump. It is running very hot. I will have to shut off the whole pump assembly and replace the pump. I hope I will be able to find one that uses the same connections. There is no heater in the unit. I have a heater lifeguard module but it is removed. I...
