Re: Re-imagined 40g build

Thanks, just not much to look at yet, lol. I know the guy who makes those (not personally, but through forums), but I don't care for the price. Mine won't be in an acrylic housing like that, but will be freestanding. It won't be quite as crude as the last one, but it won't be leaps and bounds more c...

Re: Re-imagined 40g build

Well, started filling up. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z107/Amphiprion_photos/9fdbcc082862c0b6e71feb9d4d77ec24.jpg Couldn't resist firing up the DE halide fixture (the rather heterogeneous SE fixture is awaiting a new XM 10000K lamp). Nice and bright if you ask me, though the shallow depth cre...

Re: Re-imagined 40g build

Okay, quick update. Got most of the plumbing done, including both the main and emergency drains, as well as the return plumbing. I've yet to assemble the scrubber's plumbing, but will as time permits (plus, it's difficult to do, since I don't have the sump for it yet). I did get one of the halides p...

Re: Re-imagined 40g build

So today I found that my plan for 2 different polypropylene containers won't work, due to height restrictions. Not a big setback, as I still get one to act as a refugium, which should pick up the scrubber's slack during cleanings, etc.

Re: Starting over selling! all corals

No need to dip corals. Going fishless for 6-8 weeks will do the trick, but the fish themselves need to be treated--either with hyposalinity (gentler) or copper--for the same amount of time.

Edit: didn't refresh page to see other posts. Nvm.

40g Seagrass Patch Reef Build

So, I'm piecing together a new system after breaking down my 25g a while ago. It will be my old 40g breeder and a sort of modular sump design, composed of a couple of polypropylene containers (spanning a small stand and the primary one) and an acrylic sump. It will be set up as a reef that skirts th...

Re: Has This Place Died And Gone To Spam?

There were three others in addition, all likely the same person/bot. I got rid of all the ones I could find. You can also report posts and if another mod or the admin logs on they can see any notifications.

Re: Has This Place Died And Gone To Spam?

The spam can be rough and lately its more active, so no tank what happened? Work and life in general just started getting ahead of me. It took prioritizing to begin catching up and the tank was low on my list, unfortunately. I'll be starting up another system from my old 40 breeder in the next few ...

Re: Has This Place Died And Gone To Spam?

Yeah, I've been gone awhile. Don't even have a tank for months. I checked in to see what was going on and see a torrent of spam. I went ahead and zapped the ones I found. If someone else would like to become a moderator in my place, I welcome it. I just don't have any time to jump on here anymore, a...

Re: Alk dosing causing precipitate

The easiest way to do it is to add an amount to some RO/DI water and add slowly in an area with good circulation. Don't add it to any sump, as that can also result in precipitation. Shoot for roughly 0.5 meq/L daily above and beyond your current dosing regimen. Also, since you add the B-Ionic in the...

Re: Alk dosing causing precipitate

If it is the regular sodium carbonate version, it may have caused a localized pH increase (or enough overall) enough to cause precipitation. That's the second biggest culprit next to exceeding a certain level of supersaturation. If there were precipitate crystals in the alkalinity part of B-ionic, t...

Site is slow these days

I just realized how long it's been since I've been on. I barely even get online anymore--just eat, sleep, work, rinse, and repeat. I've also noticed that I'm not alone  . Traffic, at least in terms of posts, seems way down. Everybody alive out there?

Re: linkisis rouoter config

I'm just surprised that worked. I've done it by accident enough times and it never would get internet connectivity. But hey, who cares as long as it works--I don't question things while they function properly, lol.

Re: linkisis rouoter config

Then that is your router IP. Sounds like you got everything the way it needs to be. I am confused as to how you got it to work without having the modem going to the "internet IN" port, though.

Re: linkisis rouoter config

Router model and ISP? All models have a different default IP, which can be changed later, if desired. You should have connectivity (for configuration purposes) by simply plugging the modem into the router and subsequently into your primary or centralized PC. You then open a browser and type in the d...
