Re: Current LFS List

I am pretty sure that was it. It was in Alpharetta, GA. I had met someone on the Atlanta Reef Club forum and that is where we met to trade frags. I can't even remember her name it's been so long ago.

Re: Are you interested in the Aquarium Hobby

Pheonix, Come back often and post. Even if it's just a tank update or picture of what you currently have. Have your roommate do the same. That one way to help the site. Active members might not be the best phrase. I am pretty sure there are only a few 'active' members. We may have 20 or so that chec...

Re: Topic: MBRK rejuvenation

That CRS is bad stuff. Luckily I only have selective CRS. The large sites like RC do serve a purpose but I agree that locals can help more. If I had a problem that I couldn't solve or that I didn't understand I guarantee that someone would come to my house and help. It's happened before and if there...

Re: Looking to get back into the hobby

I know that I have some pictures on my work computer. It is a 120 that is only 3' long. It's reef ready (has 2 1.5" standpipes) and drilled for a closed loop (they could be used for returns or blocked off). I have the tank, stand and canopy.

I will post some pictures this weekend.

Re: Current LFS List

There was one in Atlanta that was the best that I had ever been to. I will see if I can figure out which one. It is a long way to go but I was in the area for training at the time.

Re: Topic: MBRK rejuvenation

You remember this one scott... I sure do. I think it was saltwaterfish.com. I started out on Reef Central also. The holier than thou attitude just pissed me off. And if you post something it can easily get buried under all the other posts. The selling forums were good for a while but then the searc...

Re: Looking to get back into the hobby

Progressive can order you a tank and have it here pretty quickly. I had mine made and I think it only took a couple of weeks.

I have a tank that I am going to sell if you are interested. If is a 80 gallon (120 gallon that is only 3' long.)

Current LFS List

I could use a current list of the LFS's within an hour or two of Mobile that are currently open and have a good selection.
In Mobile I know of Progressive but right now that is the only store that I know of. What are other LFS's in the area that have a reef section or are dedicated marine stores?

Re: Progressive Marine Fish Store

I went there this past week. I haven't been there for several years and mostly nothing has changed (that is a good thing). They had added a few more coral tanks and there was a lot more like rock there. Definitely, the best store in the area. Beaver even remembered my daughter who was with me. I was...

Re: Changed: Protein skimmer what do you have/want

Due to the generosity of one of our elders (I don't mean that in a bad way), I now have a CPR Bakpak II for my new 29 gallon tank (along with lighting, a sump, canopy, stand and a few other things). I had very good luck when I was new at this with the same skimmer on a 55 gallon. It was a little mor...

Re: Topic: MBRK rejuvenation

I've been in this hobby about 8 months and have alreay met some of the cooolest people yet: Andy, beaver, drew, chris, Joe among others. If we can restart this engine you will meet so many cool people, and passionate people. For my list all you really need to do is look at the first few pages of th...

Re: Topic: MBRK rejuvenation

Kids were one reason that I took an absence a while back. When they were little they both loved it. My son even moreso, he new the names of most of the corals I had and on top of that he knew the genus and species name of the giant squid 9I am also addicted to the Science Channel). Now he is getting...

Re: Topic: MBRK rejuvenation

Wow, Fat fish is still open. I have to say in the past year I have had less time out of town (which equates to less money), a pay cut and no overtime when I am in town mostly because of the economy. I can see how it could effect the hobby. One of the reasons that I am getting back into it is that th...

Re: Are you interested in the Aquarium Hobby

IMO, that is the only way to gain membership or keep the interest of those that are already members.

Good idea Andy. Once this one has some age to it we can start new ones that are progressively more detailed so that we can decide on the path the club can take.

Re: Topic: MBRK rejuvenation

IMO, the reef related stored need us just like we need them I can't tell you how many times I have told people on other forums about Progressive here and the stores that were good that I had personally seen in their area. I will be the first to criticize them too. I am not trying to advocate members...
