Re: anemone

What species of anemone is it? It very well could be that it's eating your fish. Sorry.

Bad day to be a crab...

Noticed this in my tank tonight while I was checking on some new frags. Sucks to be him! :P http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee415/bluwtr/Critters/Dinnertime.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee415/bluwtr/Critters/Roughday.jpg http://i1226.photobucket.com/albums/ee415/bluwtr/Critters/Scolyc...

Re: Anyone planing to go to MACNA

I mentioned it to my wife and she actually seemed interested. Would be a long weekend getaway for us, so I'm hoping we can. Would really be awesome to go and see all of the incredible stuff........now, if I can just pass that golden brick!......

Re: Clownfish

A pic would be most helpful in a diagnosis, but very often fish just get bumps and bruises like we do. If the spot just appeared it is likely just an abrasion. It may have whacked its head darting from another fish or such. Without a pic though I'm just guessing.

HTH some.

Re: Colony of Brown Button Polps

You have to link your picture through a hosting site like Photobucket or Picassa. They are free. Just upload your pic to the account you create. Once it's there, you just hover your mouse over the image and it will bring up a box with several codes in it. Just left click on the code in the "ima...

Re: MH time

Thanks guys. I run my lights a little funny. My actinics come on at 6:30 in the morn and go off at 8. We all want to see the tank while we get ready in the mornings. My actinics then come on a second time at 13:30 and then go off at 21:00. That obviously gives me about 9 hours of actinic per day. Ri...

MH time

For those of you running MH's how long do you run them per day? I've slowly worked my way up to almost 4 hours now. Just don't know how long I should keep them on.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Zoas slowly dying off

Those are interesting points. Very well could be the T5 dominance, but who knows. Since I just got home and the tank is dark I don't know how they look tonight but this morning they seemed happier still, so maybe it was a combo of light and current (if that bothered them).

Re: Zoa's slowly dying off

Thanks for the ideas Andrew. I'm not sure it would be the lights because the tank they came from had MH and he had higher PARs etc. However, he gave me his MH because he is going to LED's and I'm now acclimating my tank to them (adding 15 min a day). None of my other Zoa's are showing signs of anyth...

Zoas slowly dying off

STrout gave me some frags of zoas from his tank several weeks ago. At first they were all doing great--opened that day and had great color. Here lately though, a lot of them are slowly just wasting away. Almost like they died and the tissue is just being blown away by the current. Now, I have other ...

Re: Sump Build

No problem and thanks for the dimensions. Just realized though, is 25" tall correct? Seems short.

Re: Sump Build

Okay, cool. The size is really up to you, but realize bigger costs more (of course) however you do get the larger volume of water added to your system. I'll work something up on 40 gallons total and we can tweek from there.

One other thing. Give me the dimensions of the inside of your stand.

Re: RO/DI Water Storage

+1 on the Brute. Works great. Just make sure you have the water level shut off valve to stop the flow once the can is full.

Re: Sump Build

Okay. Just so I'm clear, when you say 40g you mean the entire sump volume correct? The reason I ask is because the one I built for BTompkins has a working volume of 38g. Now we, could deepen it, but that would take away from the emergency reserve volume. The working depth of the skimmer isn't a big ...
