methylene chloride good for plexiglass adheasive?

Post by GeoGriffin »

Any of you guys have any experience with using methylene chloride in glueing plexiglass or acrilic together? I am building a box for my skimmer and people say the it is one of the best things to use as it causes a chemical weld. We have a bunch of the methylene chloride in our lab that we are always having to dispose of and though it might work well.

Any thoughts?

Should work well. Methylene chloride does actually "melt" the acrylic (but not really) briefly, allowing to it bond or weld to the other piece. Probably the best option, besides bending, for acrylic-on-acrylic pieces.
