Float valves

Post by SaltnLime »

Installed a float valve to each of my tanks sump's today. I am using a 30 gallon clear drum for the 110.00 top off supply and a 6 gallon water jug for the 29 gallon.

I ordered a Typhoon from Air/Water annd Ice today. If everything comes in o.k. I will be placing them in our vendor recommendations area. The owner, Walter, called me and was very helpfull. No attempt to upsell the products...he actually recommended the least expensive unit to me based on my needs.

Can't beat the price....I paid $139.00 for a 5 stage r/o DI 75 GPD unit with a TDS meter and auto shut off valve. :D

Where did you get the drum from? If it is used, what was it used for?

We will have to let either Liz of Scott answer this.

The plastic drums can be gotten from a guy that has a booth at the Mobile flea market... I see him there every weekend... he has containers up to 55 gallons, and the 55 gallon drums are a whopping $10, very cheap.

Shawn said he got some nice containers from the guy at the flea market, looked really nice for carrying water around, had caps and handles.

How do you get the coca-cola smell out of the drum? Mine still smell like coke, I've tried bleach and that didn't work too well.

Yeah, the flea market guy works for Pepsi. The 30 gallon clear and blue drums are 12.00 . The ten gallons are 5.00 and the 5 gals are 3.00.

I never got the smell totally out of mine. It certainly does not hurt the fish and I cannot beleive the leeching is a problem.....I got most of the smell out by bleaching and then letting it sun dry.

I'll get some pics asap.

BTW.,... all the auto top offs worked flawlessly over the weekend through today while we were at the beach. :)
