24 Cube- timer/lighting question

Post by DIfishhead »

Recently set up a 24gal JBJ Nanocube Dx. It has two 36W CF bulbs and two LED night lights. They all run from the same ballast (with a single power cord to the wall outlet). Is there any way to rig a timer for the CF bulbs, while allowing the LEDs to remain on through the night? Thanks for the help!

It would be easier to run the stock lights on a timer and add a Wal-Mart 12v LED strip on a 12v inverter. You could avoid hacking your wiring harness that way.

The adhesive LED strips are in the automotive section at Wal-Mart for about $12 and I use an old cordless phone inverter as my power supply (9v 500ma), I use the same power supply to run my cooling fans as well.

Thanks for the advice. I was afraid I'd have to go that route, but didn't know exactly how to go about it. Thanks for the guidance.
