Shroom Splitting?

Is my shroom splitting? ever since I got it, it was wide open...by this morning I saw it like this. It looks like the edge at the top is starting to tear. It has been noticeably growing in last couple of weeks. almost 50% bigger then when I put it in the tank 3 weeks ago.

Can you tell if it has 2 mouths? Usually a good way to tell. From the pic it looks like its trying to split. I have a recordia that will split to be 3 IF it ever splits. Its has 3 noticeable mouths on it also.

i guess it wasnt trying to split...although since then it has grown about an inch or so bigger!

You can slice it from the mouth to the outer edge of the pedal to force a split, or constrict it with a rubberband.

what I would like to do is split them from my tank....you just can't kill the damn things....

Some of us wish it was that easy. I have thought about trading in some of my liverock to get rid of some of them. I only have a 100 gallon tank and there are only a few pieces that have mushrooms on them now. They spread to quick to stop.

I can honestly say that Terry is INFESTED with them... his current philosophy is only to keep the top 12" of his rock clean, for his SPS, the bototm 6-8" or so, is a mushroom FOREST, the most cool, huge mushrooms you'll ever see.

Probably a stupid solution, but when I have a batch of zoanthids or mushrooms getting out of control, I set my hammer coral beside them.. That seems to thin things out a bit.
