We just got some new star polyps...was wondering what the purple long tube like thing is?

That is the polyp retracted.

just to be sure i am talking about the really long tubes that attach to the bottom of the rock and run up along the side and come out along the edge you can see 3 of them in this picture...

The short purple tubes are where the polyps arise, called calyces. The other purple extensions around the edges are adventitious stolons.

I didn't even notice the other ones i just thought you were talking about the polyps sorry.
