Need Crab ID

Post by caymanada »

I have had several types of FW aquariums in the past, but I have finally setup my first SW tank. When I added my live rock, a crab hitchhiked along. I need some help with identification. He seems to favor the night time. He is about 2 inches wide. Pictures are attached. Thanks.

Seems to be a stone crab. I'm not positive on that though. I'd get him out.

It's a cancrid crab--not typically good, as already mentioned. It should be removed. Stone crab is as good a name as any, since it is more of a catch all for this family.
