I would agree, but without a side profile it's really difficult to be sure.

The split dorsal fin confirms it's a goby, and not a blenny, which has a solid single dorsal. I would say it's likely out of the Bathygobius genus-- could be any of them, as they are all very similar.

It looks to me like an oyster goby, i'm not sure of the scientific name. i have a pair in my tank that i caught on dauphin island about a year ago. fun to watch, they dig! will eat anything i put in there too as far as store bought foods. less picky than the fish i actually paid for.

That is a Code Goby, they get the name from the pattern of their colors. Dot dot dash like morse code.

After looking at the pics more and checking my keys, it's either the code, Gobiosoma robustum as CaptJab suggested or the naked goby, Gobiosoma bosc. I would need a good side view and a view of the fins to be sure. Both are common, with the naked being the most common goby found locally especially on oyster reefs. Sorry about the mistake of it being a Molly Miller.

Where exactly did you catch it in Perdido?

Sorry, I meant habit wise. Oyster bed, sand, grass etc. Should have made that clear.

LOL! No prob. Given the habitat, I would lean more to the naked goby. They like rocks and hidey holes more. Still, withouth the fish in hand it could still be the code goby though.
