so does anyone know if its legal to fish coral off the reef in hawaii? i think that would be a nice vacation dive the reefs bring a nano along to fish coral for my home tank???

and for that.... cozumel... i know preserve the reef preserve the reef but where do you think all this stuff comes from?? im curious about reef scavanging laws... i just want to fill my tank while on vacation... ive been dreaming of going to the barrior in Ausy since i was old enough to have a dream place to live.
reefing just isnt the same living outside the glass....

Hawaii is even more illegal to collect than Florida. No corals at all are allowed to be collected even softies, mushrooms, etc.

Fish, Inverts & Algae is your limited extent in Hawaii.

florida? there are reefs in fl? what all am i missing!!!

Sure, mostly around the keys. There is also one off of the coast of Texas, known as the Flower Garden Banks. Those are going to be the closest ones we have as far as photosynthetic corals go. We have vast Oculina reefs in very deep water just off the coast.
