Corals Will Not Open

Ok my corals in my tank are not wanting to open the corals are acros and lps. The tank has also had mollies placed in it could the plbe the problem. The tank lighting is power compact 130 watts I know acros need more but they are at the top of the tank like an inch from surface. The tank parameters are

Are you sure you are reading your test kits right?

KH should be around 8-12. Unless yours reads in ppm (mg/l) in which case 143 is actually 8.0dKH-- ish

What type of flow do you have in the tank? Return Pumps, Hang-on Filters, Powerheads, etc?

Its in p.p.m and my powerhead is a 170 gph. I also have two hang on back filters its a 20 gallon long aquarium

What is the current temperature?

Also, tap, RO or RODI water? If tap, how are you dechlorinating it?

How new is the tank?

Ro water this happen two days ago about the same time I introduced to sailfin mollies could it be them 11 months

Its not out of the realm of possibility that the Mollies are irritating the corals. The only thing I can say to do, is move or isolate the mollies from the corals (or vice versa), and see what happens.

Did you dump the water from the transport bags of the mollies into the tank? Often times pet shops will use an exorbitant amount of stress guard in the transport water, possibly copper or some other chemical may also be irritating them. I'd do a fairly sizeable (> 50%) water change and see what comes of it.

Has anyone used any cleaning products, air fresheners, etc. around the tank?

I'd still recommend a big water change. Multiple small changes isn't going to do anything.

Ok after I get out of school tomorrow ill do a large water change. But to my knowlege noone has been in my room spraying anything.

The mollies might be picking at the mucus membrane on the corals causing them to close up due to irritation. Might try putting them in one of those floating beta separaters for a lil while and see what the corals do (after you do a big water change)

Mollies are gone...but coral still closed and browning with a few bleach spots....is this from insufficient light but this weekend I'm most likely upgrading to a metal halide will this improve color/health of corals I also did a 50% water change and my candy cane semi opened but that was all.

When did you get the last molly out? Also how close to your powerhead do you have the acros? Are both the acros and lps still closed up?
