not even something like a pygmy angel, or an engenieer goby, what about a pistol shrimp goby pair? none of these would be suitable, i've read they only get to be about 2' or 3' max.

You could do a clown goby, green banded goby, neon blue goby, possibly a rainfordi or hectors goby, red stripe goby , Catalina goby, red spotted goby, or barnacle blenny.
All are on liveaquaria.com

but you would be limited to one, so choose wisely. A pompom crab or porcelain crab would be cool too

I had a small nudi and several acros in my 2.5 gal. As they got to big I just moved them to the main tank and replaced them with something else.

Truthfully, in a 2 gallon nano you shouldnt even put gold fish LOL... Corals are actually much better at salinity dips and raises then fish are, if you blink you might kill a fish in that system, forget about going out of town for a weekend.

Stick to small shrimps, maybe a pistol or even better a Sexy shrimp, get something small and exotic, show off that 2g nano. a pistol you may never see.

I don't think you should put a fish... I think a better idea would be to get a couple sexy shrimp because they're cool and add some movement. Probably the same amount of movement or more than a fish you could get would have.
