Micro bubbles

Post by Fsmags »

The pipes coming from my corner flo's are creating a large amount of micro bubbles in my sump which are in return getting into my tank. It is driving me nuts. How can I fix the problem?
180 gallon tank, 80 gal my reef creations sump/refugium, diablo skimmer, 2 400 watt mh, ecotech power heads, reeflo dart pump.

Are you running a Durso stand pipe in your drain or something similar? If not, you are pulling a partial vacuum which is sucking the air down. Unless a drain pipe is completely full of water, or sheets perfectly down all side it will suck air. Is your drain making "flushing" sounds? If so, it is basically a large bubble caught in the drain. The Durso will solve this--if that is indeed the problem.

Don't feel that I explained that as well as I could, but hopefully you get the idea. I'm sure others can make better sense or offer other suggestions.
