From the sounds of it I got the other wrasse she was looking at. Depending how things turn out here in the next month she just might get a chance to have him.

Hi Michelle;

Do you still have the Heniochus? If you do, do you know if they are Heniochus acuminatus (coral eaters) or Heniochus diphreutes (planktovores)?

James

Look like H. acuminatus from the pics, but it's hard to tell without seeing them in person.

They are still young yet but look more like Heniochus diphreutes. I have several customers with these in reefs with no problems (mind you these are tanks with lps/softies & no sps. With any butterfly you take a slight chance, but I've personally never seen these graze on corals, and I carry them all the time. They are currently still in stock. See differences below, these are not "rounded" like the H. acuminatus.

I know the difference, but it was hard to tell from the pic. I guess if no one has had trouble, it would pretty much have to be H. diphreutes, since H. acuminatus will make short work of corals. Those in the picture just didn't seem to have a deep a thoracic region as H. diphreutes does. But as you said, they are young, so I guess that would mask it a bit.
