emergency salt???? specific gravity down to 1.017

Post by Rebel01 »

Can I use plain table salt to elevate specific gravity in an emergency? I have a water line running from my RO filter and the tank was allowed to run over. I don't have any sea salt within 60 miles. It's down to 1.017

I wouldn't worry too much. While 1.017 is far from ideal, it shouldn't be catastrophic. Everything should manage for a while until you can remedy it. Remember to raise salinity very slowly.

If you still see the need or you see something not doing too well, you can use Morton's. If you do decide to use it, try the rock salt, since it is non-iodized.
