Hurricane Preparation

Post by carolanndunn »

I don't have a generator. What is the best and least expensive way to prepare ahead of time? I have a 75gal reef 30gal sump. Lots of corals, live rock, livestock and a few fish? Thanks, Carol

I have one of those battery air pumps that plugs into AC and turns on when the power goes off. You can pick one up at Petsmart for fairly cheap. It is not the best option, but at least it keeps some movement in the aquarium. I would get two for your tank. Of course you can get a cheap 1kw generator for about 100 dollars that would run your pumps, and your heater, and maybe your lights or at least some lights if you check on the wattage.
