Great coral find!!

Post by Crustman »

Went to B and B and this coral was on sale for $32 from $49. This is a turban or cup coral. It is one of three members of the Dendrophyllidae that possess zooxanthellae. Duncanopsammia (Duncan) pictured behind this also have zooxanthellae. Sun corals do not make their own food. The turban is reported to be hardy as long as detritus doesn't collect in the cup. I am feeding it Cyclopeze

Do you think that this torch touching the base can hurt it? The torch was previously glued to the rock.

Thanks Neuticle. I hope mine stays this nice yellow. Kind of like a Fiji leather with bigger polyps.
