What is your (musical) cup of tea?

Post by Amphiprion »

They say you can get an idea of peoples' personalities from the music. I don't necessarily believe that, but what music does everyone prefer? You can name genres, bands, etc. if you'd like. Personally, I love classic rock, some modern rock, a good bit of 80's rock/metal, some heavy metal, a little country rock (not country), among others:
Creedence Clearwater Revival
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Green Day
Def Leppard
Van Halen
Led Zeppelin
AC/DC
Free
Eagles
...Slayer, etc.

Hmmm. I like most types of music, not real fond of Rap, generally...though I have heard some good Hip-Hop stuff. I tend to be drawn to lyrics.

I must say I became a Green Day fan with the "American Idiot" album. :)

Also like Metallica
Loreena McKennitt
Kansas
Jethro Tull
Crosby, Stills and Nash
Dixie Chicks
Sarah McLaughlin
Nanci Griffith
etc. etc. etc.....

I'm sort of that way with operas. Not my cup of tea at all.

Blech!! Don't even get me started. I will admit, though, I do like certain classical sounding songs in latin (then again, I was the latin geek in school--so much so that I was called the Latina Machina or latin machine  ). Ad majorem Dei gloriam.

Oh, and a few more while I can remember them:
Guns 'n' Roses
Eric Clapton
Peter Frampton
Metallica
some Skynyrd
Rush
Sue, right there with you on Kansas--Dust in the Wind my favorite
Bon Jovi
Winger
Queensryche
others still

I've been listening to the soundtrack from Cirque du Soliel's "Allegria" lately. Excellent driving music. Hell, it was an excellent show.

I have heard good things about Cirque du Soleil. I had the opportunity to see their 'Le Nouba' show, but the price kinda dissuaded me ($95 per ticket).

We saw "Dralion" in New Orleans a couple of years ago. It was an outstanding show, but I'm not sure they can beat "Allegria". :)

What Sue said, we pretty much have the same exact music taste. Although lately, I just put the radio on 92.1 and 96.1 for background music, and don't worry too much about what is on.

C'mon yall....this is the south. Where are the country people? I'm into country music but not the twangy stuff. I like the contemporary stuff. Although I listen to other types too with the exception of rap, metal, and hard rock....can't stand that crap!

Cirque De Soliel is awesome. I bet the Alegria sound track is awesome....the show was great. I'd love to see the shows they have in Vegas.

I like some country, but like pop it tends to be all the same. Find one person who sells and get a whole bunch more like them. But, I do like Martina McBride, alot of Garth Brooks' stuff and quite a few of the 'old country' folks like Dolly and Emmylou. I love bluegrass, generally not the lyrics so much but the music.
Love Allison Krauss, and that's what got me with the Dixie Chicks, they have a solid bluegrass background and people with a bluegrass background can PLAY. :)
