If anybody finds any cool looking beetles, moths, or butterflys i would appreciate it if you could grab and bag them. Want to put together a bug collection for my son, he spent 20 mins today at a store while my wife was looking around saying "daddy its a big bug, lets go look at it again, i wanna show mommy" so if you can help that would be great

While being a partial smart azz and LOL, I am also serious about this--check your grill/radiator and the outside lights of your house. Best places to find things, especialy this time of year.

We have all types of Rhino beetles that end up in our pool. We've also got tons of Brown Widow spiders. lol

Are you looking for dead/alive specimens?

looking for dead specimens but if i get live thats fine too. I have been looking but havent seen much lately. i used to find all kinds of big bugs when i lived t my parents house out near wilmer, not as many lights out there so more bugs in one location. in the city there are so many light sources that the larger bugs dont congregate in one area they are spread out. i would love some of the rhino beetles. I used to have a large collection i built for a school project in high school but i gave it to someone to use the next year and never saw it again.

yes drew i have been lookin but as you know with kids there inst near as much time to go running through the woods flipping over logs looking for bugs

Alright, I'll start keeping an eye out. I doubt there will be too much for a few days with all the rain predicted though.

I really appreciate it.
I got him some triops to grow and watch for now. But I have been thinking about ordering some off of eBay but it said they wouldn't be here till late October beause they would be coming from hong kong and thialand. I miss having a friend bring me some back from china by like 3 days. He had already left by the time I thought to contact him. Owell

Figured I would check and see if anybody had come across any bugs yet. I found 2 (crab) spiders and a locust shell but that's it so far.
