Microsoft so rarely gives stuff out. I have two of these and they are great.

So is there any difference between these disks and the downloadable updates?

If not, then wouldn't these updates be a little old my the time you recieved them by mail?

Yeah but the nice thing is that if you are at a site that has no/slow internet connections this can be a godsend. Take the guys in our shop, they have no internet connection and work on 120+ computers a week. The cd automates the update process with little interaction and can detect the os and apply the needed updates. I thought it was pretty neat.
