2.5 project

Post by NM354 »

Ok so for my birthday I got this nice entertainment center from my girlfriend. On the left side there are places to put all your home entertainment stuff with a cabinet below. But being the poor college student that I am I don't have all that fancy stuff to put there so what’s the first thing that pops in my mind. 2.5 gallon nano reef. So here is what I want to do. Custom base w/ matching canopy. 2 13w power compacts. Now for filtration I got a little stumped. I didn't want to do hob stuff because it will be in a difficult area to deal with so I thought maybe do a 10 or 5.5 gallon sump/fuge in the cabinet area below. I am thinking of doing a corner overflow with maybe 1/2 inch plumbing. I got the sump layout idea from this guy Image
so what do you think, other than it being to small?

yeah i have a small space to fill so i might as well fill it with a small reef. I really like the super small nice reefs. I already have a 20 that I have just started and a 75 that is freshwater right now but when i move its going to be a fish only salt for a little while till i break down and do that as a reef too.

got one more fooled.

If you need a sump tank I can probally hook you up depending on size requirements. Have you ever considered that after you shell out the 15 for the tank. the 40 for the pumps. 15 for the heater. 40 for the lights. 30 for all the DIY (if your going acryllic diy more), you could probally put some other type of "home entertainment" there? ;)

Sure I could probably buy some sort of surround sound but why do that when i could have a 2.5 gallon reef. :D I havent put the entertainment center together yet so i don't know how much room i have to deal with for the fuge. I will be moving in a couple weeks so once its put together i will know what kind of room i will be dealing with. But i have figured out that a 10 gallon will be to big so probably a 5.5 gallon will have to due. which kinda sucks because a 5.5 cost more than the 10 gallons. talking about spending money on tanks i also have a 75 that i just broke down today that i will be setting up as a fish only.

ifneed be iI have 2 5.5's I'm not using. Two differnt dimensions. So when you figure out what kind of room you have hit me back and I'm sure I can hook you up.
