The Gulfarium rescued the three adult and three young dolphins from the oceanarium, the three sea lions were taken to Sea World, they are working on getting any of the other animals as needed. These guys ROCK.

Donkeyclubmember just took off for harrison county to help with the rescue and body removals, he is a genuinly kind hearted guy that helps when there are emergencies. Despite his perverted nature of course

Dan Maloney, General Curator at the Audubon Zoo, and a staff of 11 are on site. The staff are in good spirits and they have supplies and some fuel. They do not believe there is a need to move the animals from the Zoo at present. The Zoo is coordinating its future supply needs through Dr. Dresser, who will coordinate with AZA.
In the past 24 hours, staff had to vacate the Aquarium of the Americas, as it is located in an area of the city where there is much looting and violence. Ron Forman, however, is on site at the Aquarium and is coordinating his efforts to keep the Aquarium safe through the police and the firemen. There is some fuel for some of the generators. Once the area around the Aquarium stabilizes, Aquarium staff will be able to return to the facility

From mongabay.com: The Audubon Zoo, the Aquarium of the Americas, the Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species in New Orleans survived Hurricane Katrina relatively unscathed according to reports from operators of the facilities. However, in neighboring Mississippi, the Gulport Marine Life Oceanarium aquarium was totally destroyed.

During the storm, loss of animal life was reportedly limited to four flamingos at the zoo and a whooping crane at the Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species (ACRES). Animal keepers have been flown in by helicopter and supplies will soon be arriving by boat from Baton Rouge Zoo.
Animal food stocks are holding up well except for some of the specialty items such as waxworms and crickets, while humans have found their own food supplies on zoo grounds. There is enough fuel to keep generators running for quite some time and since the zoo was so well prepared for this disaster, emergency workers and police actually are coming to the zoo to get their vehicles fueled.
Security directly around the facilities are not a concern, though gunshots have been heard in the area. Increased police and military presence in the city means the aquarium staff should be able to get back in the building soon.

Unfortunately they made the decision on Wednesday to abandon the Aquarium of Americas for their own safety.
Their generator was also having some kind of mechanical problems.
The leader (not really sure what position) stayed behind and said he would do what he could. But heard that on the news last night from one of the marine biologist being interviewed.
I don't know what the current status is of it, I hope it's ok.

Aquarium abandoned
The fight to save the animals at the Aquarium of Americas took a turn for the worse Wednesday when Richmond native Suzanne Albes and two other staff members were forced to abandon the aquarium, which sits on the bank of the Mississippi River in downtown New Orleans.
Albes called her parents, Ron and Karen Stevens of Richmond, around noon Wednesday to say that swirling flood waters from Tuesday's two levee breaks eventually forced her, her husband Neal and the two other workers out of the building.
"They did the very best they could and they were forced to abandon the building. It obviously wasn't safe," Ron Stevens said. "She called to say she fed all the animals one last time and put the remainder of their fuel in the generator and then they left."
Suzanne and Neal made it to their home in Gretna, La., a New Orleans suburb, which they found relatively intact. They collected some belongings and were en route to a friend's home in Alabama, out of the hurricane's destructive path, Ron Stevens said.
"She was horribly upset to give it up," Ron Stevens said. "But the flood's just taken over everything."
