So when is your webpage going to be up? We were adopted by a friend's kid a few years ago who was in the Foley winterguard. They dragged me kicking and screaming(I hated high school when I went and was NOT going back into one) to my first winterguard competition and from then on I was hooked. I have the utmost respect for those kids, they really amaze me. So do the parents, it's so nice to see how supportive they are.* website coming soon, www.murphyguard.org

I'm going to find out Tuesday at auditions what name they want to use. I'm assuming it will be "murphyguard", but I wanna make sure before I buy the domain. Then it will take some time to set up the site for viewing. I'll have a "Coming Soon" page up at first. That page should be up by the middle/latter part of the week.
Your story sounds a lot like mine. For three years, starting in 98, my daughter was at Korkoma, (Harrison Central). She kept asking me to come to a show, but I kept fighting it. Finally in 2000, I did go to the home show in Gulfport and since then, no one or nothing can keep me away. I get picked on about it by some, but it's no matter, I love it and will always be a part of it in some form. It IS my life between October and April.
I'm familiar with the Foley guard. They always have a pleasing show, they are a good guard with some very talented marchers. I know most of the second and third year kids on site, but know no names. I'm sure it is the same way with them. They've seen me with Optimystic, Korkoma and W3.
Sorry, I didn't mean to write a book, but when I get started on Winterguard, it's hard to shut me up.

my wife was in winterguard in high school...my sister was in Indoor Percussion...and I was an adopted band geek. I went to so many of the shows...I can even tell you what class most of the winterguards from around the country are in and what shows that have done for the past few years! LOL. As much as I like winterguard shows....I LOVE indoor percussion the most!!!!

I like Drum Corp too, but in preparing for a guard show of our own, it is almost impossible for me to catch any of the drumline shows. About the only time I can see them is the one time a year GCG&PC has the drumlines after guard. I think it's around prom in Florida when that happens so the guard kids can rush back to go to prom. But I have seen them enough to know I like the quads best.
I do know that drumline has a huge following, and rightfully so. Those kids are extremely talented and work hard to get on top. I went to the contest two weeks ago in Foley to watch the Murphy flagline in band competitions. I saw some great stuff, but nothing that compares with indoor percussion. BTW, if you happened by and caught Troy State, you saw a great field show. I was completely blown away. The drumline was awesome with their five minute cadence while the band marched onto the field. I shoulda taped it ... Next time I will.

There's always IW, No age outs. But there is not one close except for Paradigm. However, this is prolly their last season. I'm friends with some of the performers that went there from Banderas and they're telling me it's been fun.
Outstanding unit, they will be missed as is Banderas.
What guard were you with and when?

They're prolly not since you got out, d:) I'm not familiar with that unit because they're not in our circuit, but they might, however, come to regionals in P'cola. I will look them up on WGI.
And as for you, Mr Donkey Club, Sausage King wanna be ... How often do you get to spend your weekends with 24 highschool girls??? Now go back to spanking your monkey and STFU.

*chuckling*
Is this all a money issue, I assume? I hear they cut the JV and combined them for Box V. So when the school has to cut funds they go for these teams first? I'm trying to remember who it was that did one of my favorite routines of all. I think it was in 2001, anyway they did it to Maura O'Connell's "Poetic Justice" .....blew me away.

I only saw Box V in 2000 when Lacey graduated from Harrisin Central. I thought they just changed their name to Crestview. But I'm prolly confused. All I really remember about them was the show with the white boxes made from PVC pipe. I know I enjoyed it. If it is Crestview, they are an outstanding guard and always have a great show.
I can't remember show titles, there are way too many. I prolly saw it though. I'm getting too old to try to remember them all. There are several that I remember liking, but can't recall the names nor the songs.
