Waterworld LR

Post by Fragum »

I know its kinda dumb to post a pic of a peice of LR, but I picked this peice up about 2 weeks ago from waterworld. It wasnt cured, I didnt care because of the unusual shape. its about a lb and a half and payed around $11.00.

Their price for rock is crazy, but had to have it

yeah the prices at Water World can be a bit steep. Dave at Aquaria has some gorgeous Kaelini in right now, I'd guess 300 lbs or so. I believe its 6.99 or 7.99 a lb. not really sure, but it is definately worth the money.

The Aquaria rock is actually mostly Eva. And you are probably too late for the 22# piece! It takes a lot to fill that new 225.

Marshall Islands Eva rock and Kaelin are virtually the same rock, with the same encrustations, except the Kaelini is quite branchy like Tonga. So that explains that, and even if it was Kaelini, Marshall sells for more so yes, that is Marshall Islands Eva... if you want it to be.

Price is also $6.50 and Dave has been known to cut deals.

Waterworld has some very good live rock; you can click on my link in my signature below and see what I mean. I paid about $6.95 a pound for it and it had excellent coraline growth on it. They told be that it was Walt Smith's Fiji Premium Cured Live Rock that I bought. I recommend this to anyone who is willing to pay a little extra for it, and plus it takes less time to cycle your tank because it does not have much dies off on it.

I still like the thought of making my own live rock because It is a lot cheeper and you can make the rock any shape you want.

Man, you guys must be rich to be buying rock for > $6/lb. Why not just order a box?
