Sick and Tired

Post by SaltnLime »

I'm sick and tired of getting shafted by local vendors. I'm going Monday and applying for a business license so I can buy stuff wholesale.

Anyone who knows of a good vendor for plastic 1/4 ball valves (quick connect),clear check valves, floats valves etc let me know. I will be calling vendors over the next few weeks to see what I can get started.

I don't in any way want to start a "for profit" business up, but I refuse to give my hard earned cash over to those local businesses who refuse to earn and deserve my (customers) business. So I will stock up on those must have, late at night essentials, and support the Pensacola fish stores that do a better job at customer service. I have no problem supporting someone's business who actually tries to be a benifit to the hobby as they earn a living.....IMO, there is not one within 60 miles of here.

I take that back.... the guy at that pet store on hillcrest is really nice and tries hard.....he just does'nt support salt water stuff and has very little aquatic experience.....but he admits that. I pay 2 dollars more a can for cichlid food than I could get elsewhere just becasue he seems an honest business man.

Anyway....send me those links...I 'll be sure to keep enough stuff handy for you peeps to no need to dig thorugh kev's storage shed and attic so much ....Lord knows, I've never had him crawling around in there late at night

I tend to agree about the lfs situation here. I have not been out to Rich's in about a year because he wanted $25 for a FRAG of a blue tipped stag and it is such a PITA to catch him there. B&B makes me sick! I really like Aquaworks. The older guy helped me out last time for about an hour, putting up with stupid questions and my son trying to drink the tank water and I didn't even buy anything. Elizabeth has a business license and I looked at her catalogues last time I was at her house. Most of the prices were about the same as you can buy from Marine Depot.

Here are some of the wholesale advertisers from an older FAMA magazine. I have not checked these links so some may not be active.

You might pick up a current issue of FAMA or other reef related magazines.

Greg at Bayside Aquatics is one of my best buddies and someone I order from pretty regularly. I have a copy of his prices if you want to take a look!
