Another sweet score - need nassarius snails?
Out on sand island today, about a mile past the hotels, there is a very small lagoon connected to the gulf side of the island.
I picked up about 60 nassarius snails (0.5-0.75" long) in 15 min, sure beats paying $1.50 each. You need to look for small dark spots, they live just under the surface of the sand.
My fishing license has payed for itself again.

snails
Wow, I didn't know they were up this way but where exactly is sand island?
It's due south of Dauphin island, just go to the beach by the golf course and you'll see it. The two islands were connected after Katrina, so it's an easy walk from the public parking lot on Dauphin Island.

Lol, There is no fishing now on that pier. Last time I was there, I was walking all up under that pier on sand. Before Long its just going to be the beach and no island.

snails
So I went to sand Island today and searched everywhere all the way to the end and that is a long trip all the way out there. I searched every place I could but I must have missed them.
The sand changes very rapidly on sand island, the snails like sandy lagoonal cuts.
I'll probably go back out there this weekend to run the dogs, I'll see if I can spot some more. Maybe I can mark the spots with logs if anybody is interested.
Either that, or I can catch some for ya.
