New here... Nice SW forum!

Post by Ilovefish21 »

Hello all. I was searching online and ran across this forum. Just thought I would introduce myself. Name is Kory looking to start up a Saltwater tank. I currentley have 10 Freshwater tanks going..Mostley African Cichlids. Just joined here to maybe ask some questions in the near future. I am on many Freshwater forums. USAfishbox.com being my fav. If any of you have FW fish I would check it out. They also have a SW section but not as good as this. I am also on HCCC, HAS, and some other Aquatics Clubs. It is always good to have some good fish friends. Anywho, Great looking forum and look forward to chatting with some of you!

True ^^^^^^^^^^

...Though I did thoroughly enjoy my planted systems...

Anyway, welcome to the forum and I hope that we can all learn something new from each other.

Yes, and no.

Bigger means more upkeep, pricier equipment, more additives, etc. But on the plus side, you can keep more (or bigger) fish, more corals, etc. The best thing you can do, is identify what you want to accomplish with your SW tank and build to that. Otherwise, you might be chasing a goal that's never attainable because its always changing.

What types of fish/inverts are you interested in keeping?

A school of clown fish would be nice. With some corals and some rare inverts. I like getting stuff no one has. (but I love the orange on the common clown fish)

Clownfish are a species that should only be paired. If you buy a group, a pair will form and eventually kill all other Clownfish.

A pair of Ocellaris or Percula clowns would fit comfortably in a 29 gallon. Anything after that is for other fish, or just cause.

You're looking at it

We've had a handful of FW threads and conversations here. My experience is limited to planted systems and a relatively narrow range of fishes, but there are others here who've had much more experience.
