I have never owned anything other than a Venturi skimmer so i cannot comment. I do hear that the needle wheels can catch garbage and have to be cleaned often, but like I said I have never owned one.

Xster can you list your current pumps and what they run to. That is one thing I missed when I was over at your house.

As of right now, I an only running one pump for my return to the main tank. It is a blueline 100HD, rated at 1900 GPH at zero head pressure. It draws more power than other pumps but pretty smooth and powerful. I also have a Tunze Stream 6000 on a single controller for additional current inside the tank. I would not mind adding another one on the other end.
I also have a Blueline 70 HD that sits right next to the 100 HD, that used to power my UV sterilizer and my old skimmer, but since the Euro-reef, I have taken the pump and the UV-sterilizer off-line. The Euro-Reef that I have uses two sedra submersible pumps. In the future I might throw in another small submersible pump in order to power my UV-sterilizer. I have yet to see any ill effects for not having my UV hooked up.
