Mike you don't run ad-aware? Its free to down load and will take care of those tracking programs. I wouldn't think that the stuff you got would be doing this.

If anyone has not ck for spyware I suggest spybot. You can find it online for free. Look around some folks try to sell it. There are sites that give it away.

Ad-Aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

This is the best one I have found and what I use. It runs resident and prevents the crud from installing initially. There isn't a free version, there is a demo, you have to purchase it if you want to use it long term:

I checked my computer from stem to stern and didn't find anything but spyware. The strange thing is that I am using Ad-aware, Spybot- S&D and Webroot. I found that Windows XP has a new service pack that has a firewall, pop up blocker and some anti-virus software. If anyone is using XP you might look into downloading it.

It is the much awaited Service Pack 2, only has one major drawback. The update will not be mandatory for a download for many months. So now you have the hackers reverse engineering the patch to find out what all MS has fixed as expliots. This give the hackers ne w information they can reverse engineer to exploit bugs the were unaware of. I honestly think there will be an explotion of virus soon.

I didn't open the attachment. This computer is secure, trust me. If I say no virus detected, THERE'S NO VIRUS.

Reefer was there any possibility you moved the computer right before this occured. A very common occurance is that you move it then the problem starts, what happens is the people accidently move there hand across the 110/220 switch in the back and turn them to 220. On some power supplies that will cause them to turn on a few seconds then back off.
