Does your camera have like a flower symbol on the selector. Most camera have a Macro setting that will allow you to focuss on objects at a shorter distance. If you don't select the macro setting you want be able to get as close. For closeups of stuff that isn't moving I like to use a tripod and disable the flash so you don't get any glare off the glass. You have to use the tripod because when you disable the flash the shutter speed is going to slow way down so you can't have any movement of the camera. It takes a lot of playing around with your cameras setting until you figure out the right combination. The pictures you posted look good and clear. The pictues in my gallery were taken by a nikon coolpix 2 mega pixel point and shoot camera. Just a simple camera with no special lens or manual settings. It just takes practice.

Good Job!
Those are good clear pictures. I find that if I am not using a tripod, and am having trouble with blurry pictures, if I hold the lens flat against the glass they usually turn out pretty good. If you're using a flash shoot at an angle to avoid the flash glare, or hold a piece of white paper over the flash to diffuse it.
