latest and almost last fish addition

Post by ShagMan »

Besides maybe a 2nd tang, this is my last fish addition... he's such a sweetie, not afraid of a face near the front of the aquarium at all!! As soon as I put him in, he started slowly moving from rock to rock, sucking in little bits of algea and other stuff... I guess looking for pods, for his dinner!

I really like the mandarins. I can't wait to get one. Did you get it from B&B? They had a few last week and they looked pretty good. Have you seen it eat yet?

Nice fish. I've always liked them, but heard they were difficult to keep. Is that because they only eat copepods?

They are one of the coolest fish. They are difficult if in a small tank with small pod populations. I had one in my 55 that withered away to nothing. It was sad. Now on the other hand my parents had one that lived forever. It was the only fish that lived through all the crap they put the fish through. It was in a 110 with about 200lbs of lr though. They didn't put food in that tank for probably 6 months after all the other fish died and the mandarine was still kicking.

I am not going to attempt a new one till we get the bigger tank. Mine did fine for years but slowly depleted the pod population. In fact the pod population has never recovered (

Anyway my last was a psycho mandarin, next will be like what Josh just got.
