Purple Disk Coral

Post by TerriD »

Hi all,

I need some serious help with my purple disk coral. When I bought it and brought it home it was doing very well until about a month ago when it started bleaching(bought it about 2 1/2 months ago). It always stayed in the same spot until then and when it moved it left what looks sort of like a tooth. A very white calcerous stone with the disk type grooves on it. Ever since then it's turning white.

I check my water, parameters are fine... meaning where they should be.
I feed Dt's every other day and have for two weeks now been adding Coral-Accel. I also add the Kent Marine reef minerals once a week. It still swells up like a bagel but it's turning white even faster. I haven't seen any polyps since it started to turn white. What am I missing here?

Thanks for any help anybody can provide! :)

What is a "purple disk coral"? Got a picture?

If it's a SPS, then it could be nitrates, lighting, salinity shifts, temperature, pH, or even another coral attacking it. Post your tanks specs (hardware & water quality).

I am guessing he is talking about a Fungia coral.
