ive been wanting to get a webcam up and running along with a cctv type camera running into the computer via tv tunercard (with vid input) and use it as a dvr and host it up to a webpage or a program that i can log into on from another computer (from work or when i go out of town)
anyone have any good programs free or small fee i have vnc but im having a hard time configuring it

I'm using a mix of stuff for mine:
The camera is a picturetel PTZ-2N
webcam32 for the streaming (http://www.surveyor.com/products/webcam32.html)
camerapad to control the camera (http://www.camerapad.com)
and Apache to serve the page (http://www.apache.org/)
input to the computer is via an ATI-ALL-IN-WONDER card.
Our connection is pretty much dead at home for the moment, but you can see workable demos of this at : http://www.camerapad.com/demo.asp
It's a bit of a pain to setup, because webcam32 is not compatible with java 1.4.2, so you have to serve the java classes with one server, stream on another, and the camera control is on another port. But the price is very right, the camera is crisp, and movement is very fast.
