Make sure silicon is aquarium safe.

Alot of the kitchen/bath caulks, even silicone...use Mildew inhibitors, make sure it doesn't have that.

A good safe bet is GE Silicon II Kitchen & Bath. It's 100% Silicon sealant with no extras. Look for it at Lowes, Home Depot, or Ace Hardwars. I've used it and it works great! :)

That sealant brand is good. Also be sure that the silicone you buy is acetic acid based and not ammonia based, or it will leach out significant amounts of NH3.

Sue has been here forever. She probably gets tired of the "too many connections" issues at RC.

Yes, I have to admit that the atmosphere is a bit more relaxed (or should I say less potentially confrontational). Seems like a nice place to ask a polite question and get an honest reply. Possibly somewhere where the not so experts (such as myself) can avoid the selfproported experts on other sites.
