Do you have them throttled back or something ? I used to have one and it was very quiet.

Might need to replace the central shaft, impeller, and end caps.

Yeah I did and then a frogspawn stung it to death.

On the Little Giant and the oil. Some little Giant Pumps have oil inside them. I had to replace a little giant pump in my mothers pond, it was full of oil. I have heard of them leaking before in tanks. Not sure on the external pumps though.

no on the ext. you only have 2 small holes to oil the bearings through so it good

Just wanted to make you aware, not saying yours was designed like that but other pumps have had oil problems. About 6 years ago there was a rash of RIO pumps dumping oil into tanks, I had one that did that.

Snoop, he's talking about an external.
I had a little giant, lasted a loooong time ran 24x7 for years and years. 4mq..something or the other, 1200gph. It would freeze up maybe once a year, and I'd put a little oil in those holes and it would be ready to go again. I'd say you should probably oil it every couple of months. mine would still be around if I had done that probably, it eventually locked up good.
