Re: powerhead failure
as long as you have water flow in the tank so that the water stays oxygenated you should be fine. what size powerhead was it? Have you taken the powerhead apart to see what happened to it? Also if it has stopped working make sure that you unplug it so that it doesnt heat up and damage it anymore than it might be already.

Re: powerhead failure
remove the empeller and see if the magnet is cracked or if the inside has a bubble in it where it might have gotten too hot.

Re: powerhead failure
If the ceramic shaft has broken, you need to replace it or the entire impeller assembly. Using a pump with a broken drive shaft will cause premature wear and both the impeller and the housing, which will eventually lead to failure or overheating.

Re: powerhead failure
You could get a piece of carbon fiber rod from the hobby shop and make a new shaft. Its the same stuff they use to make the shafts on the maxijet mods.
