Re: Here is some interesting reading on Algae Scrubbing

One word is that these aren't for everyone. They require regular, religious scraping and rinsing in tap water or they start to not do too well. It may not always translate into overall savings for everyone, either. This is one of the big reasons I was thinking I probably shouldn't fool with it. Las...

Re: Here is some interesting reading on Algae Scrubbing

I was hoping you would see this and comment. Do you happen to have any pictures of you setup? Any details about it? I am really thinking about setting up something but I am still kinda iffy about it.

Re: B&B Pets AGA tank sale

The bad thing I found out recently about B&B is the employees are very limited. I went in a week or so after talking to Bill about ordering the tank and he wasn't there, so I talked to one of the employees. They told me the info was on some board in the back but they couldn't do anything to help...

Re: Your other hobbies or interests?

Man now I am about to download opensuse and run it on my mac. Way to go scott :D Which do you recommend? The Opensuse or Ubuntu? Anything a must have or must download and install? I see they now have the 3D desktop thing incorporated into the OS. When I was getting into it, it was all new and still ...

Re: Your other hobbies or interests?

I have lots, I guess. I like computers + home theater = home theater pc, weight lifting (haven't done this in about 1.5 years  but I did it religiously before and enjoyed it), running (I still do this, oddly enough, even though I don't like it as much), FW planted aquariums, puzzles--crossword...

Re: Your other hobbies or interests?

I like fooling around with computers but I am not into any of the old stuff. The thing that I have enjoyed most recently is setting up Opensuse 11.2 on a couple of laptops that are old. I also like guns although I sold my some of my best so that my wife wouldn't have to work when my son was born. R...

Re: Your other hobbies or interests?

I don't know if any of these will fall into the hobby category but here is what I got.. Working on the house... I'm always doing something that even some friends make fun of me. I like working on the house. Projects for this summer... Caulk the cedar siding and re-stain it, build a deck and maybe r...

Your other hobbies or interests?

I was just sitting here wondering if anyone else has other hobbies other than reef aquariums. Right now my biggest interest is in the aquarium but my other interests would be in my home theater and smaller interest in guns. I kinda bounce back and forth in the shooting interests but I would like to ...

Re: Help me plan my sump/fuge and other essentials please.

I think I am going to squash the external thing to go with simplicity. Something I didn't take into consideration is there is more plumbing and more chance of leaks or something to go wrong. I want simple. Now I still need to figure out what I want to do as far as refugium and and sump. I need to fi...

Help me plan my sump/fuge and other essentials please.

I know I want to try and go external with pumps and skimmer. I have a hard time deciding on what skimmer and now I think I may go with the Reef Oct XP-2000 Cone Ext. I want to try and eliminate hands in the water as much as possible. I want to get pumps out of the water also. I don't know what size ...

Here is some interesting reading on Algae Scrubbing

This is kinda new stuff to me. I never really looked much into it and it seems to have potential. I may have to do some digging on this. I started to read up on this when I saw Amphiprion had it in their sig. I have seen Anthony Calfo talk of it in his books also. Anyway this is a link to a forum th...
