Unless your tank has a a lot of algae, Nassarius Snails, need to be given food. Nori or algae wafers.
Also they are very sensitive to salanity changes.

You can also use limestone. http://www.Garf.org sells a product that you can put over base rock and it will seed it with all of the coraline spores that you need to make it become live.
