Would A 6 Bulb T-5 Fixture Be To Much?

Post by Kresnahw22 »

Ok guys my 20 gallon long I was wondering if a 6 bulb fixture would be too big for it? I'm in the process of upgrading it to a 40 anyways so I'm looking to just move everything new I purchase over to it.

What dimension 40 gal tank are you talking about? You will most likely be providing a lot of light to each coral with a 6 bulb fixture on a 20 gal tank. When you switch tanks you will be reducing the amount of light corals receive unless they end up the same dhstance from the light...in which case they will still be put through more than they need to. Stability is the key to successfully growing coral. My opinion is if you should wait until you move tanks and make good coral placements supply them with an amount of light that won't shock them. A par meter would make it perfect but I am sure you can estimate. I would wait...just my $.02 from my little time I have been practicing my addiction.
