Here is what I am looking for:
At least 8 megapixels
SLR type
Needs to be able to change lenses
moderately priced (less that $1500)
rechargable battery
SD storage, but I am not familiar with the others
I prefer Canon and Nikon
I am not in a big hurry if there is something great coming out or if there is going to be a great deal sometime in the future. I already have two other digital cameras and two SLR film cameras. I have two Canon's (film and digital) Nikon (digital), Pentax (film). If anyone has different opinions about the features that I am looking for let me know. I pretty much gathered these from my experiences with other cameras. It will be used for a wide variety of things but mainly work and taking pictures of the places that I visit which is mostly from ot the drivers window.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

This is the camera of my dreams....I only post it because you mentioned " moderately priced (less that $1500) " and this fits the bill.

Brandon is the expert in this area, enough said. He can also steer you to some nice websites on the matter.

For SLR's I prefer canons, because of the lenses available. Don't know much about the Nikons really.
If I were shopping w/ a $1500 budget now, I would get the Digital Rebel XT (350d) from B&H (THere is a $100 Rebate available right now)

It is a little smaller than the 300d, shoots faster, has flash exposure compensation, and a bit better image quality. It's dirt cheap right now. The B&H Special does not include any lenses, use the rest of your budget to get a few decent lenses.
I guess it really depends on what you want to shoot, but for a tight budget like me, I'd get the 50mm 1.8, awesome fast prime lens great for low-light, portraits, etc. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... ype=search
A good all purpose carry around lens like the canon 28-135 IS

(I really really want this lens, but it is not in the budget right now)
For the price this sigma lens is great, I think this is the same lens I have, but I paid more for it. I have had some incredible shots from it.

Buy a lesser expensive body and spend the rest on some decent glass, as it will make all the difference.
I think Daniel Miller has the Rebel XT (350D), maybe he could say if he really likes it.
